Antimicrobial AntiBug® Technology

Our specialist patent protected antimicrobial AntiBug® Technology starts fighting germs as soon as they come into contact with your BugBear™ bottle. All of our products have been clinically proven to kill 99.9% of harmful bacteria.

The active ingredient is consistently released in a controlled manner, maintaining the same antibacterial effectiveness after repeated cleaning cycles and after long-term use.
Our unique antimicrobial AntiBug® technology has been successfully tested against over 50 common organisms such as –

• MRSA
• E.coli
• Salmonella
• Listeria
• Pseudomonas

The science bit…..

What is AntiBug®?

Our AntiBug® is a patent protected, fully certified treatment using silver ion antimicrobials which are added to the bottles at time of manufacture in the UK.

How does AntiBug® work?

The use of silver in medicine dates back thousands of years, and scientists have long known that the metal is a potent antibacterial agent. The silver ions in AntiBug® perform their work by punching holes in bacterial membranes and wreaking havoc once inside. They bind to essential cell components like DNA of the bacteria, stopping them from reproducing and causing them to die.

Is it safe?

Yes – silver technology has a low toxicity and is used in a wide range of applications such as implantable devices and skin creams. The antimicrobials are also microns in size, many thousands of times bigger than nano particles.

How long does it last?

Our AntiBug® Coating will last for the normal life of the product under correct use.

Do I need to clean my AntiBug® bottle?

Our AntiBug® coating is complementary to cleaning practices. The technology continues to work 24 hours a day in between the normal cleaning schedules thus reducing growth of the microbes preventing them from reaching potential dangerous levels.

In addition to cleaning the bottle we recommend using a mild steralising solution (e.g.Milton) or a mixture of hot water, vinegar and a teaspoon of baking soda for a more natural alternative, every now and again.

Is AntiBug® the same as collodial silver?

No it is not, collodial silver is a suspension of silver particles in water and is sold as a supplement.  Whereas AntiBug ® uses silver ions which refer to silver atoms from which one or more electrons have been lost, and which exist in an ionic state.

AntiBug® products have been successfully tested against over 50 common organisms such as; MRSA • E.coli • Salmonella • Listeria • Pseudomonas • Aspergillus Niger
